Birth of New Salem

“It all started with me actually just coming up with the character of Detective Jack Faust. I knew I wanted to do something in the horror genre  with a touch of the supernatural.  So the setting was very important. I spent time trying to figure out what to name the city. Where would it be? What made it tick? Then one night as I was driving to work the graveyard shift at a job I had recently started at the time, it hit me. It was a divine creative moment. I saw the sign—literally—and the story just poured out.

The sign said, New Salem Lane. The world of an alternate universe 1940’s Salem, Massachusetts called, New Salem, was born and Detective Jack Faust had everything from gorgeous dames and femme fatales to witches, pagan nuns, ancient gods and demons he would have to deal with. All built on a city’s dark historical past wrapped up in a nice Noir bow.  It became the first thing in years that I was genuinely excited to work on every day. It still is in fact. All thanks to that little sign on the side of the road, on the way to work one day. “
